State Wrestles

State Wrestles
Brian has been working with a few of our high school wrestlers (mostly Austin and Zack) on weekday evenings during this years wrestling season.  Their hard work really paid off.  Austin took 2nd and Zack ended up taking state!!!  Zack was also 1A outstanding wrestler!!  We were sooooo excited of him.  Zack is such an amazing kid and a great role model for Dax.  He wants to be just like him someday.  If he works as hard as Zack has, he will!  His hard work paid off!! :)  Love ya Zack!

George Strait/Martina McBride

George Strait/Martina McBride
It was a girls trip to the the George Strait and Martina McBride concert.  Amy got us tickets at the Energy Solutions Arena in one of the suites.  It was AWESOME!! I have always dreamed of seeing George Strait in concert.  He was amazing and so was Martina!  We had so much fun with all of the girls.  A lot of Amy's friends came, most of which I didn't know, but we still had a great time!!  A concert I will never forget!

Destri Dance/Cheer
This was Destri's first year doing dance and she has just loved every minute of it.  She looks forward to practice each week and loves performing!  She was also involved with mini cheer, which she loved as well! :)  Little girls are so much fun!

Lots of Bad Luck

Lots of bad luck....
We have our share of bad luck lately!!!  First, Destri got her pinky finger caught in a weight machine cable while we were doing crossfit at the high school on Jan 3rd.  It was cut really bad and scared us to death! Brian and I took her up to Richfield to the ER and Dr Pope stitched her up, but told us that we would have to see a hand surgeon at Primary Children's to repair the tendon.  Her pinky wouldn't bend at all. :(  A week later we took her to Salt Lake to Dr McMullin, a hand specialist, and they did surgery on her little pinky.  After they got in there, they discovered she had cut both tendons and 2 nerves.  It took 5 hours to repair everything.  We were a nervous wreck.  She was a trooper though, and did a lot better than we expected!  Thank goodness for priesthood blessings and prayers.  She is healing up really well. Lots of physical therapy!!
Second, Denim had been really sick for about a week.  And on Super Bowl Sunday we noticed her breathing wasn't normal and she started running a fever again.  She was really fussy and just not her happy self.  We decided to take her into the ER that afternoon.  They told us she had RSV after some tests.  Luckily she wasn't bad enough to admit her into the hospital.  They sent us home with some breathing treatments, and she was on the mend after 4-5 days.
Third, I was on my way home from work one evening and hit a deer in my car.  Luckily I wasn't hurt and the car was able to be fixed.
Last, I got a phone call from my Mom one afternoon saying that Daxon was on his way up to the ER with Grandpa.  He had split his chin open at school.  I couldn't believe it after everything that had happened!!  He split it open really deep and had to have 7 stitches.  Dr Abbott did a really good job and made it pretty much painless for Daxon.  I was really impressed.  And Daxon did really well under the circumstances.  He was mostly disappointed, because he had to miss the first day of wrestling practice and miss a few more and a tournament.
Needless to say, we have had our fair share of ER visits so far for the year.  When it rains, it pours right!! :)

Daxon's owie!

Daxon's owie!
We have spent a lot of time in the emergency room lately.  I got a phone call from the elementary school the other day telling me that Dax split his chin open and that it would need stitches.  Luckily Grandpa Rick was able to bring Dax to Richfield for me.  He was running on the playground, tripped and smacked his chin on the concrete.  It's going to leave a cool scar!!  He was so tough while Dr Abbott stitched him up.  It wasn't as bad as he thought it would be!!
