Denim Morrill

Denim Morrill
Denim finally made her appearance on August 14th, 2012.  She was almost 3 weeks early and still weighed 7lbs 14 oz, and was 19 inches long!!  I was sitting at home on my computer, the kids were playing, I had been doing housework all day, basically just hangin' out.  I literally had only been home from Lehi for 2 days.  I was getting so used to ignoring the contractions, but this time it felt a little different.  They started lasting longer and were really making my back ache.  I called my mom to see if she would drive me to the hospital.  Brian was at work and we decided to leave the kids with my Dad.    I knew the possibilities of them just sending me home were big, because I'd gone through it so many other times.  I'd had some hard consistent contractions off and on for 2 weeks, but they never really made my cervix dilate.  I figured it wouldn't hurt to go in, because I really didn't want to have this baby in the canyon.  They hooked me up for the NST when I got there and later Dr Brown came and checked me.  I had gone from a 3 1/2 to a 5.  He was a bit hesitant because I was still rather early, but decided it was finally time to go through with this.  It wasn't long after that I got my epidural and then they broke my water.  I had such a fun staff working with me that made it such a wonderful experience.         Brian was actually able to finish his day of work and meet us at the hospital.  Sherry (my mother-in-law) later showed up. :)  My wonderful new sister-in-law (Bobbie) offered to take my kids so my Dad could drive down for the delivery.  He made it an hour before she was born.  I arrived at Sevier Valley Medical Center at around 3:00 and delivered Denim at 10:15.  It was such a smooth delivery and Denim came out SCREAMING.  Brian was so nervous the whole time.  After we had to life flight Destri 3 years ago, he was a bit nervous, especially since Denim was early as well.  She was so, so healthy and absolutely BEAUTIFUL!!  We were so excited about this new little addition to our family.
 Waiting for the big moment!
 Epidurals are WONDERFUL!

Checkin' out our beautiful little Denim

Piute County Fair (and 2 weeks of labor)

Piute County Fair
It was another fun year at the fair!!  My Mom pulled it off again.  She always works so hard and does such a great job, along with the rest of her crew.  All of these pictures are from the Friday night rodeo.  We had a wonderful time watching the rodeo, visiting with friends, eating burgers, laughing, and enjoying the whole atmosphere.
That night, after the rodeo, we decided to call it a night at around 10:30.  Brian wanted to get up and run the Brayden Blackwell 5K the next morning at 7:00, so we decided to get some sleep.  And I, being quite pregnant, did not argue.  Sleep  was something I cherished at the moment.  It was around 11:00 when I started having some pretty good contractions.  We timed them for about an hour and they were around 2-3 minutes apart and were getting pretty strong.  We decided we should probably head to the hospital in Richfield.  Being only 35 weeks, I thought Dr Brown could give me something to stop the contractions and we could just come back home. ...
Once we got to the hospital, they started an NST (measured the contractions and watched the baby's heart rate)  A few hours later, Dr Brown came to check me.  I was only dilated to a 1, but he could feel I was soft.  They weren't able to get my contractions to stop with Nifedopine, so it worried him enough to send me to Utah Valley Regional Medical Center by ambulance.  I immediately started crying.  Brian and I were both so worried, mostly because the memories of shipping Destri to Utah Valley by life flight when she was born began to take over.  We just wanted this baby, and me to be ok.
Brian followed us up to Utah Valley in his truck and I arranged for my Mom to take care of our kids.  It was a very long, long night.  We made it to the hospital at around 6:00 am.  We made ourselves comfortable, because they told us we would be there for at least 48 hours to try stopping the contractions and give me the 2 doses of steroids needed for Denim's lung development.  Long story short, they were able to stop the contractions and discharge me.  They wanted me to stay somewhere close to their hospital til I reached 37 weeks, so luckily Matt and Amy let me stay at their house in Lehi for 2 weeks.  Reason: if I were to go into labor down home, they would just turn around and ship me to Utah Valley.
It definitely was a long 2 weeks!!  Matt and Amy were so wonderful though!  They took great care of me and I was very comfortable.  Another good thing was that I was able to watch most of the Olympics! :). Another reason it was a very long 2 weeks was that I didn't really stop contracting the entire time!  It was so so miserable.  I was in and out of the hospital several times.  Brian, my mom, and the kids were able to come and visit a couple of times, which made me super happy!  I was finally able to head home at the 37 week mark! Happy day!
Oh, and another sad part... We didn't get to enjoy the best part of the fair!,, :(

Piute County Fair

Piute County Fair
Talent Show/BBQ/Little Buckaroo Rodeo
I can't believe how many people came out for the BBQ and Talent Show this year.  My Dad cooked his famous ribs and they were a hit!!  They had a huge turnout and it was a lot of fun!!  I loved how many people showed their support for the fair this year.  It gets bigger all the time! :)
My kids had a blast at the Little Buckaroo Rodeo.  Daxon made his first 8 second ride on his sheep this year.  He was so excited!  It was so fun watching him.  This year he was old enough to ride a calf, and had his heart set on it 'til he saw the size of them.  He decided not to get on one this year.  I wasn't too heart broken.  LOL  Destri even rode a sheep this year.  She was totally fearless.  Her Dad had her behind the shutes and she kept telling him, "Dad, I wanna get on that sheep NOW!"  She was so excited.  After the ride, I half expected some tears, but she wanted to go again.  It was pretty funny.  She loves animals.  Gotta love the Little Buckaroo Rodeo!!

Grandma Sherry won Deal or No Deal in her Bert Costume! :)
Brian won a dutch oven in the pushup contest. :)
